Pair of small red lacquered commodes with pagodas decoration, circa 1950

Pair of little lacquered commodes with golden landscapes and pagodas on red background. Bulged form, commodes are opening with two front drawers separated by a crosspiece. Gilt bronze handles with foliage decor are placed on either side. Each commode stands on sinuous base composed of four cabriole legs ending in trifid form. Adorned with Asiatic sceneries in cartouches on the body, on the top and on sides. These genre scenes depicted oriental characters in landscapes, animals and pagodas decors. Females’ characters with sunshade decorate lateral cartouches.
