Ico Parisi (1916-1996), real nammed Domenico Parisi, is italian an architect and a designer in Palerme and he moved to Come, where he is graduated in construction. In 1945, he organizee the first exhibition of contemporary furniture in Come, and it was follow by many other editions the following years. In 1947, he married a former Gio Ponti student, Luisa Aiani with whom he created the studio La Ruota in 1948 and which stays active until 1995.
The couple moved to Lausanne in the 1950’s where Parisi studied architecture. At this same period, Ico Parisi devoted himself to the study of furnishing elements and furniture design, and he started establishing collaborations with artists, designers, and architects such as Lucio Fontana, Francesco Somaini, Bruno Munari, Mario Radice, Fausto Melotti, and Gio Ponti. His unique Modern aesthetic uses soft woods often shaped in wide undulating curves, with metal slats and boldly colored upholstery. In 1954, he won, in collaboration with Silvio Longhi and Luigi Antonietti, the gold award in the X Triennale di Milano (Milan Triennial) designing the Living Room Pavilion (Padiglione di soggiorno). In 1956, he became a member of the Association for Industrial Design (ADI) (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale) and worked with great editors of this time such as Cassina, Altamira or Singer & Sons.
