Traditional Berber rugs were made by the Beni Ouarain tribes who lived in the heart of the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. It is in the Atlas Mountains that we find particular sheep, an ancient breed whose individuals are smaller. They produce excellent quality wool which makes Beni Ouarain rugs so special. The Beni Ouarain rug is one of the Atlas’s many treasures. The Berber rug is hand knotted from natural wool. It is often decorated with geometric symbols inspired by the traditional Berber culture of the Atlas tribes. This modern Moroccan rug is hand-woven by women artisans from the high Atlas Mountains using a traditional method, it is a heritage passed down from generation to generation. Our models are made from high quality pure sheep wool. It is part of one of the best organic wools and is produced from a rustic Berber breed of sheep from the ancient breed called “Marmoucha”. Each of our Berber rugs is therefore made in Morocco, from natural wool and using an artisanal technique.
