Kazimir Malevich (1879-1935) was a russian painter of polish origin, closed since the beginning of his career, to the russian avant-garde movements of the beginning of the 20th century.
Between 1913 and 1915 he founded the Suprematism : modern art, free from its practical and aesthetical purposes of representing reality, can finally get its essence : art for its own sakes.
Abstract art is better than figurative art for it doesn’t try to represent a real object but the color itself expressed in the better way with geometrical shapes. Art is only sensation, pure picturial sensibility and it becomes independent, separated from its environment, from external reality.
In the following years, supported by the Soviet government which encouraged the avant-gards Malevich directed the Institute of Fine Arts of Vitebsk and then teaches at the Institute of Artistic Culture of Leningrad. For his relations with some German artists, Malevich was imprisoned in 1930 and his writings destroyed. During the last years of his career, it comes back to figurative painting.
Christel Sadde (1968) is a French artist who began her career in graphic design and then developed a passion for Calder. She began to draw mobiles inspired by geometrical abstraction and kinetic art. In 2003, she created her company Volabile following to an order of 50 mobiles by the Sentou Gallery. More recently, she began to create “stabiles”, sculptures on solid base where small mobile were hang. Her artwork is considered as decoration items and also as geometrical, aerial and shiny. Some of her pieces pay tribute to major artists of the 20thcentury such as Vassily Kandinsky, Kasimir Malevich or François Morellet.
