Ebony stained beech planter decorated by faience tiles, Napoleon III style, circa 1880
Napoleon III style ebony stained beech planter.
On the front face and two sides, cream background faience tiles with red and blue interlaced scrolling foliage ornaments. In the central part there is a medallion with the M. On each lateral upright, winged sphinxes girdle adorned with acanthus leaves and draperies, finishing with cloven hoof foot.
Backside uprights are decorated with a pilaster, topped by pinecone and ending with a baluster foliaged foot. Crosspieces are decorated with beads friezes.
Simple back only ebony stained.
Work realized in 1880’s.
