Louis Durot, born in Paris on April 22, 1939, is an artist, designer, chemist, engineer and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Canton, China. It was the painter François Arnal who introduced him to the sculptor César in 1966. He also met Pierre Restany, founder of the New Realists group founded in 1960, Arman and Robert Malaval. Louis Durot’s work is particularly centered around polyurethane foam. His work is related to Pop art aesthetics: forms suggesting something other than their function and the appearance of a single material, without traces of assembly, colored and inspired by the world of comics. The work of Louis Durot is present today in various countries (USA, Greece, Dubai, China…) and is part of the collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts of the city of Paris, the Guangdong Museum of Art in Canton and from the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. His studio is located rue Léon in the 18th arrondissement of Paris.
