Pair of brown lacquered doors with a red and gilt decor. Doors flanked by moulded rail and organized in tree different parts : the bottom one with an inferior tormented edge; the middle one framed by red lacquered wood representing, in its centre, a gilt frame with flowers motifs in which is inscribed a red and gilt flamed Asian lion putting its paw on a globe – probably representing the male Chinese guardian lion, which symbolize in an imperial context the supremacy of the Emperor over the world; and the top one is a bas-relief with a red background with a gilt decor of court scene in a garden, next to a palace, with three Asian characters.
The doors side frames are decorated with gilt motifs of trimming, flowers, fruits and foliage, geometrical and stylized Asian motifs and cartouches with scenes representing couples of Asian characters in gardens.
The upper part of doors is constituted by a mirror framed by openwork wood, carved in geometrical motifs, flowers and foliage, butterfly, pagodas and characters. It’s gilt with flowers and Greek frieze and topped by moulded frame gilt decorated by a large cartouche with an imperial scene representing, in its centre, the Emperor on one side and the Empress on the other side, each surrounded by three servants.
Work realized in the 19th century.
