Pair of porcelain round plates with a white background and flowery decoration. Center is adorned with a bunch of roses circled with gilt nets and blue lapis waves. The wing is decorated with A same color banner on which a flowers frieze is deployed with an alternation of yellow hypericum, cornflower, roses and in four gilt framed medallions purple chrysanthemums. Many gilt highlights.
One of the plates is attributed to the Royal Sèvres Manufacture. The mark under the plate was made of two interlaced “L” and after 1753 a letter were used to identificate the year production. “N” indicates the year 1766.
The other plate is a posterior realization that is based on the original plate. The mark here is in red letters « Rouard, 34 avenue de l’Opéra, Paris » and refers to the dealer Géo (Gérar) Rouard, known after the WWI for the high-quality wares that have been selling: old compositions remake or pioneering creations, the selection was very large.
This one was probably made before 1929, date of Geo Rouard’s death. After that, the new artistic director, Marcel Goupy, was used to add this name in addition of the old Rouard mark.
