“Accolay” refers to a community of potters established in the village of Accolay (Yonne) in Burgundy, active from 1945 and 1983 and formed by four former students of the Polish ceramist Alexandre Kostanda. Accolay’s production is characterized by great inventiveness with varied shapes and bright colors and the use of numerous ceramic techniques such as brush enamels and glossy glazes, gold enamelling, scarified slip, etc. The production has always been signed with a unique signature for the community, “Accolay”. The community was well known for having invested in service stations on the migration routes of Parisian tourists to settle down and create permanent exhibition spaces.
