Louis XV style table with extensions stamped M. Hirch, circa 1950

Louis XV style gilt wood round table with extensions. It rests on four curved legs ending in windings. The apron and the legs are decorated with squares, shells and acanthus leaves. The top is lacquered and decorated with a central round medallion with acanthus leaves. Two extension leaves with belt.

“Hirch” refers to a furniture maker M. Hirch Minckes , who had his workshop in Paris, 16 avenue Parmentier. He died in 1926 but his sons, Marcel and André, took his suite. A cessation of activity auction for the Maison M. Hirch occured in 1987, by the auctioneer Labat, but the precise date of the real cessation of the production is still unknown.
