Robert Goossens (1927-2016) was a goldsmith and jeweler who trained in workshops working for Cartier. He worked as an independent artisan and in the 1950s began making jewelry for Gabrielle Coco Chanel. He will also work for Hermès, Dior, Balenciaga and other big names in fashion. For Chanel he created not only jewelry but also furniture and chandeliers, inventing an incredible repertoire of shapes that marked the decorative arts of the 1960s and 1970s, such as the table representing an ear of wheat. He also collaborated with Maison Saint-Laurent from the mid-1970s for whom he also created numerous jewelry. He sold his company and his boutique to Chanel in 2005.
