Robert Gossens (1927-2016) was a jeweler-goldsmith trained in workshops working for Cartier. He became an independent craftsman and in the 1950s he began to create jewels for Gabrielle Coco Chanel. He worked also for other famous fashion brands, like Hermes, Dior, Balenciaga and others.
For Coco Chanel, he fabricated jewels but also furniture, mirrors, chandeliers etc and created an amazing shapes register that impressed a the decorative art of 1960s-1970s, like the table with wheat ears, a recurring pattern very much appreciated by Coco Chanel.
He also collaborated with Maison Saint-Laurent in the middle of the 1970s for which he created many jewels. At last, he sold his company and Parisian boutique to Chanel in 2005.
