Masanori Umeda (1941-) is a Japanese designer. He graduated from the Kuwasawa School of Design in 1962. In the late 1960s, he worked in the studio of Achilles and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. Then, in the 1970s, he worked for the Italian publisher Olivetti. It was there that he met Ettore Sottsass. In the 1980s, he participated with him in the Memphis movement, close to the ideas of Antidesign. Author of numerous postmodern, poetic and ironic pieces of furniture, Masanori Umeda draws his inspiration in particular from his garden, where many varieties of flowers grow.
Edra is an Italian publishing house founded in 1987 in Tuscany.
