Pair of a la Reine Louis XV style armchairs in gilt wood, circa 1880

Pair of a la Reine Louis XV style armchairs in gilt wood standing on four cabriole legs adorned with carved cartouches and acanthus leaves. Scalloped apron decorated with a swag of flowers held by a ribbon. Arm supports slightly behind the leg line with a decor of acanthus leaves, supporting arms with manchettes and scrolls handholds.
Flat back, “à la Reine”, with stils adorned with carved motifs of flowers, foliage, c-crests, acanthus leaves and ribonned laurel wreath cresting.

Trim and manchettes entirely reupholstered by our workshop with a Rubelli fabric, reference Baccarat, colour Oro.

Rubelli is a historical Venetian fabric manufacture, created in the late 19th century . Current workshops are in Cuccagio, Italy, in former Zanchi workshops. This Manufacture produces high quality and luxury fabrics, also used for La Scala or La Fenice theaters.

Models close to a Louis XV period set composed of a sofa and six armchairs making part of the Tuck collection. They are covered by a Beauvais tapestry figuring pastoral scenes from drawings by François Boucher (“The childish ballet”, “The dance lesson”, “The surprise”, etc.) and the fables by Jean de La Fontaine from drawings by Jean-Baptiste Oudry (“The hurt Lion”, “The Fox and the Stork”, “The Cat, the Cockerel and the Little Mouse”, etc.). The carved and gilt wood parts have been realized from drawings by Etienne Falconet.
