Setsu & Shinobu Ito are two Japanese architects and designers. Living between Tokyo and Milan, they founded their design studio in the Lombardian capital in 1997. While developing their own activities besides their studio, being a professor at the University of Milan for Setsu, and being a graphist for Sony Creative Products Inc. for Shinobu, they have collaborated on numerous occasions with design studios, as such as Fiam, in order to create iconic pieces of furniture. We can notably name the Toki coffee table and the Inori bookcase in glass. Their work was awarded by a gold compasso in 2011 and can be seen in many museums around the world such as the Triennale in Milan.
Passionate about glass, Vittorio Livi created Fiam in 1973, which would become the first editor specialized in the creation of pieces of furniture in curved glass. Collaborating with numerous designers, such as Enzo Mari, Philippe Starck, Ron Arad, Cini Boeri, Vico Magistretti, etc., Fiam would receive various awards, giving the company an important place in the design world and making it become synonymous of Italian excellence.
