Adrien Audoux and Frida Minet are a couple of French manufacturers of high-end garden, terrace and lounge furniture in rattan, bamboo and raffia rope. At the beginning of their career, they were members of the Union des Artistes Modernes (UAM), created in 1929 by a group of modernist designers including, among others, Charlotte Perriand, Francis Jourdain, Louis Sognot and Pierre Chareau. This group had been founded in reaction to the Société des Artistes Décorateurs (SAD) of which many UAM designers were originally members. These designer associations tended to cater to the wealthy elite of Paris and members of the SAD (Follot, Dufrène, Herbst etc.). In reaction to this, Adrien Audoux and Frida Minet began to produce wood and rope furniture during the 1940s and 1950s. They designed furniture, including chairs, from innovative materials such as rope and metal. simple tubular covered with woven abaca, that is to say hemp rope. Settled on the Côte d’Azur initially in Cannes in 1929, they moved to Golfe-Juan (Alpes Maritimes) in 1942.
