The Mazzega glass manufacture was created in 1929 by Romano Mazzega in Murano and produced quality items. In 1937, the company was sold to Aureliano Toso and changed its name. The next year, Mazzega opened another glass factory : the Fratelli Mazzega, in association with his brother and sister that became circa 1950 the Industrie Vetrari Reunite Mazzega. After war, the company was largely developped with the help of the master Ermanno Nason in connection with the artists fondation Fucina degli Angeli that welcomed prestigious artists such as Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Georges Braque or Jean Cocteau. The company was led from 1958 by the painter Gianfranco Purisiol that created original pieces with the own characteristics of the manufacture : a colored glass diffused in the glass transparency. The glass company was closed in 1983.
