Pair of Gien earthenware lamps mounted in gilt bronze, standing on a circular base with rosettes interlacing.
Blue and white lambrequins and stylized vegetal decoration. Coat of arms with two shields underlined by the ribbon motto « Semper virens » (always verdurous). A lion on the left and a man with a sledgehammer flank the coat of arms; an earl crown tops the whole ensemble.
The left shield is from the Avril de Bureys, a family from Anjou and Britain. The right shield is not identified, but the union of these coats of arms is probably a symbolic representation of a wedding between two families.
The Gien earthenware manufacture, founded in 1821 in the Loiret, has its peak period in the late 19th century, thanks to emblazoned ceramics orders.
Work made circa 1890.
New and functional electric system.
