Paul Louchet (1854-1936) was a French sculptor, bronzier and painter. This complete artist realized an exceptional and trim work of chiseling. He collaborated with the greatest contemporary artists of his time: Lalique, Daum, Majorelle, Chalon. He realized items in the Art Nouveau style for the Universal Exhibition in 1900. He was president of the chamber of the bronze producers and then focused on painting and sculpture. His work essentially turned to a naturalist vein, inspiring by the Barbizon school, impressionists and Art Nouveau.
However, as an exceptional bronzier he succeeded to combine Art Nouveau motifs with more classical shapes such as the baluster leg of the two lamps slightly reminding the Louis XVI style.
